چکیده :
Abstract— This paper presents an RF power amplifier (PA) utilizing the envelope tracking (ET) method to operate in accordance with the 5G standard, featuring a 100 MHz bandwidth and a 3.5 GHz center frequency. The system includes supply and bias modulators designed to enhance the efficiency of the power amplifier through the envelope tracking technique. In the proposed structure, for the first time, the bias voltage changes simultaneously with the supply voltage of the circuit. The proposed structure is simulated with a 256 QAM modulated input in a 180 nm CMOS process, and the results— including parameters related to linearity and power-added efficiency (PAE)— are reported. The error vector magnitude (EVM) is measured at 2.7%, and the average PAE is found to be 16%. In comparison, the average efficiency of the Class A amplifier alone is calculated to be 9%. The proposed structure achieves an average PAE increase of 8%.
