Low-Overhead Behavioral Locking for Security of Analog and AMS Integrated Circuits

چکیده :
The globalization of the integrated circuit (IC) supply chain has introduced serious challenges to the security and trustworthiness of analog, mixed-signal (AMS), and RF intellectual properties (IPs). While digital circuits have been extensively studied under logic locking and layout camouflaging schemes, analog circuits remain highly vulnerable to reverse engineering, counterfeiting, and key-recovery attacks. In this work, we review existing analog/AMS locking techniques, including digital optimization core locking, bias obfuscation, and layout-level camouflaging, and highlight their limitations in terms of power, area, and reverse-engineering resilience. We then propose a new protection methodology based on behavioral and structural netlist obfuscation, in which the locking mechanism is embedded within the functional behavior of the circuit. This approach minimizes overhead in area and power consumption, while ensuring that only the correct activation key restores the intended circuit performance. The proposed scheme enhances security against reverse engineering, netlist extraction, and functional attacks, thereby providing a practical pathway for securing analog and AMS IPs in modern horizontal semiconductor supply chains.
